The theory of gravitational lensing is reviewed from a spacetime perspective, without quasi-Newtonian approximations. In general relativity, the gravitational force is a fictitious force due to the curvature of spacetime, because the gravitational acceleration of a body in free fall is due to its world line being a geodesic of spacetime. A passing gravitational wave would then produce a small ripple in spacetime causing a change in mirror spacing, shifting the location where the particle is trapped. If space-time expresses gravity on the subatomic level and “anti-gravity” on the cosmological level, then we only have to find a missing minus sign in our equations. After seeing some heavy stuff on Relativistic Theory of Gravitation (RTG) in the last post, we come to yet another book on General Relativity (GR) which is titled Space Time Gravitation by Yu. What does this have to do with quantum gravity? "None of us can know what the world is, in the way that we used to know it. Einstein says that time is not the same for all of us, but different, for each one of us. They call it “lensing” because gravity acts just like the lens in your eyeglasses, bending the path of the light–except instead of bending the light with glass, gravity is actually distorting the curvature of spacetime itself. As its name suggests, semiclassical gravity involves a combination of quantum and classical components.
